Why is my PC slow? An honest answer
Short answer: Usually one of four things: a nearly full drive, too many programs starting with Windows, a restart waiting for an update, or memory that is really short. "RAM boosters" and registry cleaners do not fix any of these.
By hand, with Windows' own tools
- Free space if the C: drive is over about 90% full.
- Turn off startup apps you do not need: Settings > Apps > Startup.
- Restart if an update is waiting.
- Check Task Manager > Performance > Memory: if it stays near 100%, close heavy apps or add RAM.
With Sparewise
- Checks all four and says which one applies to your PC, in plain words.
- Turns off startup programs you pick, and every switch can be flipped back.
- Never "cleans" memory or the registry.
Questions
Do RAM cleaners speed up a PC?
No. Windows manages memory itself; emptying it only makes apps reload.
Does a full drive slow down Windows?
Yes, when it is nearly full: Windows Update, search and the page file all need free space.
