Where Ollama stores models on Windows
Short answer: in %USERPROFILE%\.ollama\models. Each model is several gigabytes, and the files have hash names, so Explorer cannot tell you which model is which.
By hand
- See your models and sizes:
ollama list - Remove one you no longer use:
ollama rm <name>. Do not delete files underblobsyourself: models share layers, and a missing one breaks other models. - To keep models on another drive, set the
OLLAMA_MODELSenvironment variable to a folder there and restart Ollama.
With Sparewise
- Lists Ollama, LM Studio and Hugging Face models one by one, with size and when each was last used.
- Shows layers shared between models, and how much removing one really frees.
- Gives the exact
ollama rmcommand. It never removes a model itself: models are slow to download again, so that is your call.
